Organic Films crews always conduct themselves with unobtrusive respect. We have substantial experience on film sets and work to strict professional standards.
Thanks to the joys of digital technology and with a solid background in documenting truth, we are compact with equipment and people.
So don't expect a huge production truck to roll up at your premises.
Instead we keep things casual and conversational to put people at ease. And we all have some fun in the process. For this reason we usually don't use autocues or scripts.
Tips on what to wear:
We don't use strong lights so keep make up natural or bring it along. We don't provide hair and make up service preferring instead to capture people in their normal environment. Make sure to get your grooming up to date beforehand, including hair cuts, hair colour, trimming eyebrows and beards, visiting the dentist or keeping floss handy, especially for interviews scheduled after lunch.
Avoid striped shirts, stark white shirts, red and head-to-toe black. Bold, solid colours work best especially any shade of blue. Some people get stressed being in front of a camera so it's good to keep a jacket handy in case you suffer from excessive sweating or rashes.
Avoid rustling, noisy fabrics especially those with a sheen. Matt fabrics work best if we wire you up with a radio microphone.
We often visit your premises before the scheduled shoot date to review possible locations, but if this is not practical, here are a few tips when booking rooms.
Tips on how to select rooms or locations:
Outside sound- avoid proximity to kitchens or busy areas, vending machines, street noise, elevators.
We prefer to choose rooms that are carpeted for better sound. If we can control the air conditioning that is ideal.
It is standard practice to check all mobile phones are off during a shoot.
Avoid choosing rooms with stark white backgrounds or walls as back drops, or LCD screens that are not powered on (they show up as a big black box). If the location involves an office environment, it's preferable to show it in the background especially if we can isolate sound through a glassed office.
Desk monitors- to avoid screen flicker which looks distracting on film, please reduce the refresh rate on older computer monitors from 60 to 50Hz.
Light- natural light is great but having some control with blinds is handy.
For interviews, find a good solid chair with a back, that doesn't swivel or squeak!
Other handy tips:
Fire Drills- it's always a good idea to check with the fire warden if there are any scheduled fire drills on the day of the shoot.
Construction nearby- it's great to know if any construction is occurring in your building, next door or in the street.
Please let us know if there are any other restrictions such as filming third party brands, portraying any one smoking or consuming alcohol and be sure to identify any one who prefers to opt out.
Safety- be mindful of practising safe workplace behaviours for the benefit of your staff but also so that everything we film can be broadcast without concern. Please notify our crews ahead of time if hard hats, safety boots or vests are required for site access or provide these to us when we arrive.
We respect the right to privacy for all, including our crews. Please check before posting any photos of the shoot to social media or distributing in any way.
We are here to help and make this process as seamless as possible. If you have any questions, feel free to ask the Director on the shoot.
